immediate restoration of the Kingdom to Israel, which Jesus had plainly told them to put aside (Acts 1:6–7). Hearing all of this, the Thessalonians surmised that those who had fallen asleep in Christ would consequently miss that Kingdom. In fact, Paul in his First Epistle had used the word “we”; therefore, these Teachers could argue that he and Silas and Timothy (II Thess. 2:2) expected that Event in their lifetime; therefore, it must be near at hand, and that of necessity, the “Day of the Lord”
